Yes, Spotify has debuted.
There is a reason that Spotify has not been covered much here and that’s because it doesn’t even exist for customers in the United States yet. So, why shift gears now? Well, for one it is a sign of things to come in how listen to music and two, it's pretty cool, so why not?
Apple indeed has passed the free streaming music application and the same goes for Google’s Android Marketplace. In a nutshell, Spotify, if you are not familiar, lets you stream almost 4 million songs to your phone using Wi-Fi or 3G.
That’s awesome right? But wait, there is more.
The application is only available to Spotify Premium members in the UK, Sweden, Spain, France, and Norway. And the iPhone application is only available in Finland. So, if you live here in the States, this is obviously quite the disappointment.
The good news is that Rhapsody is apparently in the approval process for an iPhone application, so if that gets past the guys in Cupertino, you can bet it will probably be huge where Spotify isn’t available.
Here are a couple of videos from Engadget that showcase Spotify and all the things you will be missing out on.
Enjoy.
