iPhone owners were pleased when the SlingPlayer client, with 3G streaming included, finally made it to the App Store. Meanwhile, Android powered phone owners in San Francisco and elsewhere had to standby with jealousy in their eyes.
No more.
SlingPlayer is headed to Google’s Android operating system at some point this summer as the company showcased the application at gdgt Live in Austin, Texas. Although the release is light on details, it’s pretty safe to assume that it will probably be somewhat similar to the iPhone application. Ok fine, here’s what they said on Android Community:
According to the company rep, the UI for the app hasn’t been completely finished, but it’s expected to resemble the interface on their iPhone version.
In case you were worried, it’s going to be able to stream over both 3G and Wi-Fi, so there won’t be any problems in that department. They also made no mention as to what the pricing of the software might be but again, if one had to guess, it’s probably going to be $29.99, the same price it is on every single other operating system it’s available on.

If you are in need of an Android phone, you can find the Nexus One for AT&T and T-Mobile here, Sprint and Verizon are on the way. Or you can find one through HTC. Or you could just head to your local AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile store here in the city.
Lots of options.
