Use your iPhone like a Starbucks giftcard.
Do you drink a lot of coffee?
Do you find yourself waltzing into Starbucks on a daily basis?
Do you own an iPhone?
If you answered yes to these three questions, a new application released by Starbucks and currently on a West Coast trial run, will allow you to use your iPhone with Starbucks Card Mobile to purchase your frothy beverage of choice.
As of right now, it’s only usable in Silicon Valley and Seattle, but look for it to expand further because it’s already available for everyone to download on the iPhone app store. Besides using an on-screen barcode to pay for your coffee, the app also lets you increase your credit on the account and view your transactions that will confirm your coffee addict status.
There actually is another app, myStarbucks that allows you to find the nearest store and look up the facts on your favorite drink. Nowhere near as cool as being able to pay with the phone, but if your body is craving it, and you are in the middle of nowhere, it could come in handy.
But aren’t Starbucks on just about every corner of America?
Weird.
You can find the Starbucks Card Mobile download here, and the myStarbucks app here.

It's about time we are catching up to South Korea, Hong Kong and Japan! They've had mobile phone payments for the longest!
