Earlier today, there was a message posted on Google’s official Nexus One page that read:

For Verizon's network, you can buy the Droid Incredible by HTC, a powerful Android phone and similarly feature-packed cousin of the Nexus One.

Right then, all of you in San Francisco who have been waiting for the Nexus One on Verizon probably let out the world’s biggest simultaneous sigh. However, it wasn’t official. Like many of you, I also speculated that it could still be revealed next month at Google I/O. Like many of you, I held out hope.

Well, you can go ahead and grab a tissue because it’s official. After all the rumors, Verizon will officially not be getting the Nexus One, instead, the HTC Droid Incredible which is apparently the Nexus One’s cousin (I’d say it’s more like a brother) will be taking its place on Big Red.

Google has released this statement in regards to the Nexus One:

We won’t be selling a Nexus One with Verizon, and this is a reflection of the amazing innovation happening across the open Android ecosystem. Verizon Wireless customers who want an Android phone with the power of the Nexus One can get the Droid Incredible by HTC, which can be pre-ordered now and which will be available in Verizon Wireless stores on Thursday, April 29th.

So there you have, straight from the mouth of Mountain View. It looks like those Incredible sales are going to skyrocket and there actually might be some lines at local SF Verizon stores on Thursday. Certainly a big bummer for those of you who have been patiently waiting but at least there is closure.
