New photos reveal more on upcoming iPod Touch and iPod Nano cameras

Apparently, it's hard to keep a secret these days.

Now that the fun of the futuristic soda fountain has died down, it’s time to get back to the stuff that truly matters.

Drum roll please.

News that has to do with Apple products of course.

News that apparently is limitless in proportions.

So what’s on tap for today?

Well, it appears that Cult of Mac via Gizmodo have got their hands on a little secret that has had people buzzing for the last week or so. And what’s that supposed secret? Well, if you haven’t heard, the iPod Touch and the iPod Nano apparently will both be receiving upgrades in an expected September release this year.

The pictures that you can see in both of those links above aren’t actually of the iPod’s themselves, but cases for the iPod’s being made by a Chinese manufacturer. The secret is apparently not a secret in China and many of the companies that make cases have already begun production.

The Chinese apparently were told of the new iPod dimensions in May of this year and even double checked to make sure the measurements were correct

This makes it pretty safe to say that these pictures are probably what the new Touch and Nano will look like.

What they reveal is pretty interesting.

Unlike the iPhone’s offset camera, the iPod Touch camera will apparently be in the top-center of the device while the iPod Nano camera will actually be in the bottom left corner.

The placement on the Nano seems a little more practical, but let’s waits to pass judgment.

Some of the other changes include an increase in the Nano’s screen size to 1:5:1 from the original 1.33:1, the click wheel will be smaller and moved down the device which should make it easier to take pictures with the camera.

It’s also unclear whether the Nano will be able to shoot video but it is expected that the Touch will have video functionality when it is released. And look for both of them to get storage upgrades which is kind of a given when Apple releases their next-gen devices.

The news features on the iPod’s will probably be incredibly popular during the holiday season and will just build upon the recent news of Apple’s successes last quarter.

So head on over to Cult of Mac and check out the pictures.
