Netflix could be headed to the iPhone, Wii

Think back to a few months ago when the news broke that the SlingPlayer Mobile would be released on the iPhone without 3G support. Sling Media was forced to ax 3G from the app to get it released because AT&T and Apple were worried that it would overload their 3G network.

Fast-forward to today’s rumor that an industry honcho is claiming that the Watch Instantly feature from Netflix is headed to Apple’s iPhone and Nintendo’s Wii. Of course, Netflix has already extended their service out to Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and the Roku Digital Video Player so it’s really not surprising that they are looking to expand even further.

There is however, one thing that won’t be shocking if and when Netflix lands on the iPhone. That one thing happens to be the same problem the SlingPlayer walked into when they tried to get their application passed by Apple.

So you’d have to imagine that Netflix also will not be supported by 3G if it even gets passed at all.

The Wii, if the rumor holds up, wouldn’t experience the same problems so Netflix coming to Nintendo is pretty likely.

In a nutshell, Netflix on the iPhone could be great, but without 3G, it will be as crippled as SlingPlayer Mobile is.
