This could be the moment a lot of you have been waiting for and it looks like July and August are going to be pretty huge months for Verizon.

On the heels of those extremely detailed pictures of the Motorola Droid X, comes a report that the Droid X will in fact be launching on Verizon next month, not surprising since it has had more leaks than the kitchen sink. As for the Droid 2, which was recently seen on video, it apparently won’t be hitting shelves until August.

Patience is a virtue, San Francisco.

Of course, no pricing is available at this time and no specific dates in either month have come to the surface but there are a couple of interesting tidbits. First and foremost the X will be shipping with ShadowBlur, Ninjablur, NinjaBlur, whatever as well as with Android 2.1.

Secondly, and this is probably the biggest surprise, the Motorola Droid 2 will be coming with Android 2.2. Yes, it will be shipping with Froyo. Pretty huge, SF, especially because the specs only appear to be so-so.

So there you have it.

Right now, it’s pure speculation but hey, it’s better than nothing. So take that excitement to your local bar and root on the good old United States of America.

With so so specs... I may still get purchase an Incredible over these phones. I think that if Droid X came with a 1GHz processor and a better camera this wouldnt be struggle. I dont do a lot of videos on my phone. Pictures I do alot of. And 5mp isn't going to cut it compared to 8mp. The only thing this phone has going for it is the rumored 4.1" possibly 4.3" screen. I still think the Incredible has this phone beat.

It does come with a 1GHz processor (confirmed by several sources that have the devices in their hands). And it's a TI OMAP variant, not the cheap Snapdragon, so it'll be (as the leaked benchmarks already show) significantly faster than an Incredible/Evo/Desire clock for clock.

And it really is a 4.3" screen. Pictures on Android Centrl with side-by-side with Evo, Iphone, Eris, and if you read the linked thread from Androidforums you'll get confirmation on the processor:

Hello, DROID X SHADOW! But, always the SHADOW to me.
To the naysayers, don't know what you have read, but the SHADOW X's specs are quite excellent. Hands down, the SHADOW X clocked with Adroid 2.1 has already significantly beat the Incredible in terms of speed (see recent benchmark tests as reported on Howard Forums). And, rumor after rumor after rumor has it that the SHADOW is richly loaded with all kinds of wonderful goodies:
    -Passed WiFi certs... tethering capable?
    -8MP camera
    -Dedicated camera button
    -Video recording at 720p
    -HDMI out @ 1080p
    -4.1 to a 4.3 inch screen
-8 to 16 GB internal storage
-8 to 16 GB SD card
    -700 to 750 MHz/next generation TI OMAP 3630 processor;
    -Revamped/silent running Ninja/shadow blur
-I could have sworn that I saw a front facing camera--- video conference calls anyone?
-Currently said to run Android 2.1
-And, maybe 2.2 Froyo will be loaded on market version. Yes, Motorola?

Not a bad SHADOW X. Not a bad

Where do you hear 2.2 will be on the Droid 2? I am working w/ the device pre-release and there's no sign of 2.2, so I have my doubts.

Oh, Croak says that Motorola's DROID SHADOW X does does come with a 1GHz processor, as confirmed by several sources with devices in their hands. Not the 700-750Hz my sources referred to. Thanks, Croak.

    Even better, Motorola, even better.

Now upload Android Froyo 2.2 at market, and the SHADOW X will be an incredible (no pun intended) blast machine!

    Eh?,

I hope you are wrong about the actual market SHADOW X launch cell. If Motorola can pull off launching the SHADOW X with Froyo 2.2 on board, what a feat that would be for all of us, Motorola included. You can do it, Motorola. You can do it.

Just do it SHADOW X. Just do it!

    Ah, Eh?

I thought you were referring to the 'Droid X' Shadow as not coming out with Froyo 2.2. But, I see it was the Droid 2 you were referring to, and not to the Droid X (though I have read in a number of sources that Motorola Droid 2, indeed, is supposed to come out with Froyo 2.2, also.

Perhaps it's wishful thinking that the 'Droid X' SHADOW will sprout 2.2 Froyo wings. I think it will be insane for the Motorola Corporation not to come out with a market 2.2 Froyo on its next flagship phone to challenge the Incredible, EVO and new iPhone 4 phones. Motorola absolutely has to make a huge statement with its next phone. And, Froyo 2.2 would do it. Since the 'Droid X' SHADOW is the next phone to be launched (July), I predict that Froyo 2.2 will absolutely be on board.

    Here's to a SHADOW X Froyo 2.2!

i am exited about this phone, but it looks like it's gonna be a clunker. what's with the dip on the bottom of the phone, what is the point of that? Why can't they just make it slim all the way down? i still want an iphone.
