What would a Monday be without a juicy smartphone rumor?
Last week, we saw the unveiling of the Motorola Droid X, Verizon’s new addition to the Droid series that is heading to you guys on July 15th. You have already seen it previewed pretty extensively on here including side-by-side’s with the iPhone 3GS and HTC EVO 4G, camera samples during the day and at night as well as an unboxing and quick video tour.
More to come later of course.
However, what we didn’t see was the Motorola Droid 2, a phone that was expected to debut alongside the Droid X and that showed up in its clearest form yet only a few days ago. So, a lot of you out there interested in the updated version of the Droid were probably left scratching your heads.
Well, it has surfaced again with some new intel suggesting that it will be hitting Big Red on August 23rd with, you guessed it, Android 2.2. That seems about right considering the Motorola Droid is rumored to be getting the update late next month so they could make a big splash launching the device with the new software.
The Droid X of course is coming with Android 2.1 with a promise that Froyo will be coming soon. The HTC EVO 4G is also rumored to be snagging the update soon and if you missed it, it actually got an OTA update from HTC today.
So get on that.
Anyone going to be picking one of these up?
