OS 3.1 for the 3GS has been jailbroken.
This is going to be about as short of a blurb as you will see on here, but just a little heads up for those of you with the iPhone 3GS that were waiting for Dev Team to jailbreak it for OS 3.1.
That day has arrived and you can head here to find out all the details.
Of course, the one drawback is that apparently you can’t just jailbreak 3.1 on its own, you have to have already used the Pwnage Tool at 3.0 or 3.0.1, so right out of the box will not work.
They say of course, that that is for the moment, so be on the lookout for one that can do it out of the box in the future.

This is a totally disappointing announcement... its application is so limited... only for a pwned phone before and for mac only... ! If I have a pwned 3GS at 3.0, I do not even bother to upgrade to 3.1 and wait for this tool. The biggest group of 3GS users waiting for a JB tool is those who have brought a 3GS right at 3.1 or those forced to upgrade from Apple site at 3.0 because of problem. This tool cannot help them !

I am totally disappointed in the Dev Team. They have truely shown how incapable they are of making a windows based app for the jailbreak. Once (if it ever occurs) that I jailbreak this OS 3.1, then I will NEVER update it again. I hate not having a jailbroken iphone. It is totally worthless without being jailbroken. I may sell my iphone on ebay and get a new phone. Possibly jailbreaking the bb storm to use on att since i know how.
i guess we would have to wait for purplerain to release a jailbreak for 3.1 3gs users
I know, right? It's a shame these people won't work faster to bring their free software to the platform of OUR choice...bastards.
What's everyone's problem. Dev team have done more than all of you. Losers. If you want something you can't do yourself, don't complain if it's not what you need. Useless lot.
Not really dissapointed, hoping to see a jailbreak for windows to tho soon. But considering its free and mms really isnt "OMG MUST HAVE" for me right now im content on my jailbroke 3.0. And not only that but the software is free so i cant complain.

Listen here D bags. Go code your own jailbreak and show them how's it's done. Otherwise shut up and be patient or throw you phone in the toilet.
so if i jailbroke my 3gs iphone on 3.0 firmware with windows, i can't jailbreak the 3.1 firmware with mac or windows? i have access to either, but am i too late since my original jailbreak was with windows? also, i don't think the top priority is jailbreaking 3.1 because 3.1 is slow and has major bugs. i would rather downgrade my fw back to 3.0 and JB it, back when life was simpler. I appreciate the smart guys working on this, but i think finding out how to downgrade to 3.0 would be best option at this point.
