iPhone can now stream music from Zune

iPhone and Zune users are going to love this.

This is for all of you out there that enjoy using your iPhone as a music player. Well, you need to have a Zune pass too, but we’ll get to that.

While this obviously is not an official way of doing things, the good people over at Gear Live have found a workaround that lets music from Zune stream on your iPhone. All you need is an application called Orb and a computer and you’re set.

The only downside is that this really only applies to people that have a Zune Pass.

If you are not familiar, a Zune Pass basically allows you to get unlimited music for $14.99 a month. So now, instead of wasting hard drive space on your iPhone, whether you have 16GB or 32GB’s of space, you now can simply stream your music on Zune.

Looking at the steps do this, which can be found at the link above, it appears fairly easy and apparently it works very well over the 3G network. According to Gizmodo, Wi-Fi also works well, however, EDGE is too slow to garner high quality music.

So if you use up a lot of your iPhone storage space for applications and find yourself having problems trying to fit your music library on your smartphone, look into this. While fifteen dollars a month might sound less than ideal, again, it offers limitless music and now with this, you can listen to whatever, whenever you want, seamlessly.

And if you haven’t used Microsoft Zune before, you are in for a treat if you decide to jump onboard.

It really is great and now you can get those WMA’s playing on an Apple product.

Cue confetti, parade, and rabid celebration.

Good article. Im curious to how the boys in Redmond are taking this though. They might be a little nervous, but at the same time, it brings people to the Zune platform and from my experience, will most likely convert them because the Zune is truely a great experience - not just the device, but the platform as a whole.

The Zune Sound and Music selection is wonderful and on iPhone makes it better.
