The Hero is all but confirmed to debut on Sprint.
Cross another rumor off the list.
In a report by Engadget, it appears as though HTC’s Hero is in fact coming to Sprint. This of course should be the conclusion to the rumors last week that had the Google Android based smartphone heading to the service provider on October 11th.
While the evidence was clearly there, it takes something more substantial to completely be convinced that a rumor, especially in the tech world, is true.
And that evidence has apparently been found today.
In a screenshot from HTC’s Support Site, there is a clear as day picture of the HTC Hero under the Product Support tab. While they can’t reveal the exact URL, they have seen it, it exists and it’s just up to Sprint or HTC to confirm the Hero’s arrival.
It also should be mentioned that there is speculation that the Hero will be locked into an exclusivity contract with Sprint for the time being. If that’s true, it is great news for the United States’ third largest service provider who also has exclusive rights to the Palm Pre at least until January.
This also follows the next that HTC will be releasing their Touch Pro2 on T-Mobile next Wednesday.
Look for some sort of official announcement in the coming weeks now that the word is out.

I spoke with a phone sale rep yesterday on the phone and they confirmed with a supervisor that the HTC Hero is coming to Sprint soon.
I asked HTC directly about whether or not the Hero will be coming to AT&T at all or a comparable phone and I got this
"I am glad to see that you are holding out for a hero to be released on the AT&T Network. At this time, I can only confirm that the HTC Hero will be available in North America before the year-ends. Currently, we have not announced any carrier specific information, so I cannot confirm or deny that Sprint will release the device, nor can I speculate on if AT&T will release the deivce." and this "Hello Jason,
Thank you for your interest in the HTC Hero. I understand how anticipated you are with the release of this device. Unfortunately, HTC Technical Support does not have any information on which carrier's will distribute the HTC Hero in the United States. It is determined by the carriers on when they announce the release of a new product. I do apologize for any inconvenience that you may have experienced.
I hope we have answered your questions in detail."
