Not to be outdone with all of the fanfare surrounding the upcoming release of the Motorola Droid, HTC has confirmed with Gearlog that it has had access to Android 2.0, the new OS from Google, and it will be implementing it into upcoming phones.
Android 2.0 should be announced officially with the Droid on October 28th if advertisements are to be believed.
HTC has not revealed what phones will come equipped with Google’s new operating system, but it’s safe to think that if HTC wants to be competitive, there will be some sort of announcement soon about a new device.
Samsung apparently would not confirm anything as far as Android 2.0 was concerned. So no timetables, no names, nothing other than the confirmation that something is in the works.
Lame, but exciting nonetheless.
