They finally did something right.
Finally, AT&T does something right.
On the heels of the news that AT&T may have someway been involved in the rejection of the official Google Voice application for the iPhone, the company has begun to offer free Wi-Fi at all Barnes and Noble stores in the United States.
This news from MacWorld comes a month after AT&T and Barnes and Noble began offering free Wi-Fi for iPhone users via their HotSpots for free.
The in-store Wi-Fi will now feature no subscription fees which probably drove more than a few of you up a wall when you wanted to have a cup of coffee and relax surfing the web, only to find out that you were going to get nickel and dimed.
Of course, this decision also comes mere days after Barnes and Noble announced not only their online eBookstore that is loaded with 700,000 ebooks but also their upcoming partnership with Plastic Logic’s new eReader. So you have to think this decision was definitely done in conjunction with that announcement.
So if you don't have an iPhone and want to use Wi-Fi with your non-Apple smartphone, a netbook or a laptop, and it supports Wi-Fi, you can now do so for free.
A golf clap in AT&T’s direction, they are not out of the dog house yet.

AT&T has long offered free highspeed WiFi at Starbucks to it's wireless customers.
Absolutely, and I have taken advantage of it many times. The thought behind this though is that it is going to be a great asset to the upcoming eReader as well as the bookstore.
Thankfully B&N frequenters can now enjoy the same free access that people at Starbucks are afforded.
