PSP Go
I was an early adopter to the PlayStation Portable (PSP). I used mine for about 2 months before the UMD died. I took it to the Sony store at the nearby mall and they said I had to call an 800 number 'found somewhere on the Sony web site' (thanks). After finding the number I spent a frustrating time on the phone trying to figure out how to get this practically brand new (without a single scratch) PSP repaired.
For some reason I was going to be responsible for some of the cost of the repair, something I was dead-set against. I decided to shelf the unit and look past the disappointment and so it's sat unused ever since for over 2 years.
Sony recently announced the PSP Go, a 16GB PSP that does away with the UMD and instead uses digital files downoadable through the PlayStation Network (PSN). Had I bought this unit instead of the UMD model, perhaps it would have survived the coddling, soft buffing of the screen performed like a handler for the Stanley Cup and the careful placement in it's cushy $30 case.
The Sony Go has a sliding form factor (not unlike many of the slider phones/pads out there), includes bluetooth, has a 3.8 inch LCD and is reportedly lightweight. The price, battery life, reviews and availability/diversity of content is presently unknown, but we do know it's coming this Fall. Check out the video from Qore for more...
