Sprint HTC Hero

If you have the HTC Hero on Sprint, chances are your phone is not operating on the EVDO REV A network (Sprint's fastest) that it is promised to. You can check by going to Settings, then clicking About Phone, then clicking Status and then viewing Mobile Network Type. Our HTC Hero, as well as that of many other users, shows EVDO REV. 0 (a slower network), despite the fact we are in a EVDO REV. A area.
This is an example of a major quality control issue. We have to wonder how several phones made it through with this error. However, it should be correctable with a simple update. Sprint has shown notable improvements in customer service over the past year, so they will hopefully put out an update very soon.

Mine is EVDO Rev 0. I have not noticed any network latency. However, I am used to AT&T so what am I really comparing it too.
Is it me or does this guy sound like he has something against this phone? Perfect example of what is going on with the US press. They do not report the news, they add their bias to everything that spills out of their mouth. Check out this guys review of the Hero.
Bob, I have this phone. I'm not against it. However, it's just not as good a I wanted it to be. I don't own an iPhone, but possibly would if it wasn't on AT&T.
Bob..if you experienced EVDO Rev A, you would be in Heaven. Rev 0 is satisfactory, but nowhere as good as Rev. A.
I agree with bob this guy sounds like he has an agenda. I read another review he wrote that was highlighting all the faults of the Hero vs the iPhone but didn't point out any of its true strengths. It sounds like somebody likes there iPhone a little to much... if you know what I mean...
i also agree with Bob
deino should have made a review of iphone faults compared to hero like the article tio refered to and not just heros faults compared to iphone
im in nev 0 any word on when rev A update ?
I got my Sprint Hero on Friday and can confirm that the Mobile network type is set to "CDMA - EvDO rev. 0" as well. I love the phone by the way. I'm not a big complainer but it is disappointing that it doesn't have EvDO rev A as promised.
I just got a tweet from HTC ....... "In case your worried, Hero on Sprint is fully capable of Rev A speeds. The status currently reads Rev 0 whether or not its on Rev A"
This guy is a deadbeat and is biased.
yeah.. this guy just hates HTC or google or android or all of the above - i read his other review
*shrug*
Even though the phone shows Rev 0 it is Rev A. it is just software.
