HTC HD2
The HTC HD2, a 4.3 inch Windows Mobile phone (we're talking about the outdated version here) will arrive at T-Mobile stores next week. The official sell date is March 24, but two Los Angeles T-Mobile locations tell us that they may be able to sell the phone before that.
Even though the HTC HD2 runs an outdated operating system, it has a 1 GHz processor and sports a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive display with multi-touch support. Those who have played with the phone claim that the HTC Sense operating system covers up the Windows Mobile system pretty well and it is as easy to use as any Android or webOS phone.
Are there any readers out there who want to get this phone? Would you put such a big phone in your pocket? Tell us what you think.

Yes you moron, the OS is not out dated just because WM7 is here. I actually prefer sense over this rather than WM7. Besides how long will it take Windows to fix WM7 before it is not filled with bugs. How can a phone with these type of specs be outdated. Its faster than the Iphone 3gs and the iphone pretty much kills everything else in terms of browser speed including the Droid. As far as im concerned this is the best phone ever created.
I agree with Corey 100 percent!
Windows Mobile 6.5 is not outdated, but has had ample time to work out the bugs associated with it. Windows Mobile 7 will have some bugs for the rest of the year. And is not running the same architecture as its previous versions. New code means new apps. Some companies have started to make their apps compatible with the WM7 OS, but not all have had a chance yet. WM7 phones will be in second place, until the developers get used to the new software.
Totally agree with u there I'm using the nexus one right now and I'm definitely gonna buy this bad boy on the 24th because in terms of specs there is no competition.
Outdated?? Um...No.
Outdated? Hardly. A more correct turn of phrase might be: the most current and most stable version currently available, enhanced with the excellent Sence UI. This phone is by far the most cutting edge piece of hardware and I feel like a child on Christmas Eve waiting for it. Please be a little more thorough if you are going to "report" on new technology.
did all these phones are so spectacular then why were'nt they released before the iPhone in 2007? Just copycats trying to cash in on the Apple bandwagon.
watash, obviously you're an iphone lover, but what are you angry for? are you feeling the competition, huh? are you jealous that hd2 will beat your ass?!!!
Do you even know what you're talking about. How can an OS be outdated when it's the latest version available. What couldn't I do on WM6.5 that I can do on any other OS. If you're referring to WM7, two things, 1. its not out yet so you're comparing apples to oranges and 2. WM7 is a whole different OS and not for everyone. WM7 is going to cater to and compete with the non-business person who thinks the iphone is cool because you can play many kid games on it. There are many other people who will use the WM6.5 because it has business related tools like MS exchange support for your company and comes pre-loaded with MS office, etc. You, my friend, have not done your research.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS PHONE !!!! SWITCHING FROM AT&T TO T-MOBILE JUST FOR THIS PHONE ... WINDOWS MOBILE IS GREAT FOR BUSINESS AND I CAN'T WAIT TO PINCH TO ZOOM SOME OF MY EXCEL SHEETS THAT I HAVE TROUBLE WITH ON MY XPERIA. I PLAN ON PUTTING UP A TENT, WITH A LITTLE STOVE OUTSIDE THE T-MOBILE STORE AND HAVIN' A PARTY - JC
Hi all, I too have been waiting since last Oct and I have had confirmation of all specs, date, and price (they also confirmed BOGO for HD2) from my local Tmo store (MA). I haven't added to any of these forums or other venues of HD2 talk, but I have to say I am soooooo excited for next Wed.!!! I will be there as soon as the doors open.I went today to see the phone as I had spare time this AM, but I didn't need to see it to know I will be first in line. It is everything expected, very responsive and feels very well constructed, even a tad weighty, but in a good way. The rep took my info while I was there, although I didn't request it; I am sure it may make it quicker once I go to port my number and sign up with Tmo. I am leaving Sprint after 8yrs for this. Sprint asked me why I was leaving and I said "Sprint is too slow, and today's market, the best phone wins!! Not to mention the notoriously tough customer service." There you have it, another person waiting on their 'delivery'.
this guy is a complete moron. he had written a column a few months ago on the HD2 and it was clear a) he was copying/pasting outdated info; and b) the outdated info itself was incorrect!!
a simple web search would have confirmed it. and to think that he's probably getting paid by examiner.com to generate such drivel.
Daryl - can you tell me what the 2 LA stores are that will be carrying this sooner than March 24th? I live in LA and would definitely like to pick up one possibly over the weekend.
Thanks!
Here in Europe we've had the WinMo HD2 for ages, and it's a turkey......... roll on the much nicer Mini HD, or WinPhone 7, and forget this dinosaur.
Your an idiot bud! As many have pointed out new is necessarily better. In the case of Microsoft if your OS ain't broke don't risk a change. In this case i will take a well refined 6.5 Pro with twice the hardware needed. Then some shot in the dark OS Micro is throwing out there to make some more cash. You are a hater plain and simple. While I appreciate the hard facts (when the phone is coming, and there are two stores which will have the phone) your opinions are not needed and really make you sound like a moron!
First thing first, please check your information like everyone else has said. The phone is not outdated your info is. Secondly, to answer you queston. I currently own an iPhone that I am using through T-Mobile and I have been thinking about getting this phone. When I looked up the measurements of the phone on the htc website and measured it based on my iPhone turns out it is no bigger than my iPhone 3G. So, now I wouldn't mind putting a phone this size in my pocket, because I already do.
LOL. The comments on this article make me laugh. Daryl is exactly right: This phone is a piece of crap.
Well, I did get to try this phone this evening. It's not crap-it's far worse than it. I'll have my full review next week.
I'm definitely getting this phone. No operating system is as good as the one MS is going to build, they never are. I for one still run XP and am very happy with it. I can see being happy with this phone for quite a while.
I've been waiting for this phone since last September...bring it!
wow he said the phone was outdated...big deal. Some people have too much time on their hands.
I do not see how is this outdated Windows Mobile OS??!??!?! Windows Phone Series 7 was presented but no single device is in works therefore that concept Mobile OS does not exist until phones hit the shelves with the OS installed and accessible to the customers. This phone is the closest to the iPhone and from my perspective LOT BETTER! than any out-there. I'd love to see Android on this kind of phone which may even be HD3 this coming fall.
I may take this phone but will wait to see if they are preparing HD3 with Android until this fall - once fall comes I may take this phone and run with it. It has everything I need and "some more" lol ... $450 off-contract price is inviting but will think twice if I want to spend that much.My current phone is Nokia e71 which I can sell for $200 - therefore HD2 comes out to be $250 for me :)
Got something to say?
