The Emblaze First Else: as revolutionary as the iPhone?

The First Else might just be the first thing to turn heads since the release of Apple's iPhone.

Regardless of your stance on Apple's iPhone, it is obvious that it is a revolutionary device. The phone brought touchscreen devices and smartphones into the mainstream realm and completely changed how we thought a cellphone should look and function.

But it has been been nearly two and a half years since the original iPhone was released. And there hasn't been many comparable devices released in that time. Granted,  Android devices are starting to gain ground, but they mainly build upon what they iPhone introduced. They have apps and touchscreens, but hardly bring anything new to the table. However, this stagnation is about to meet its end.

Emblaze, an Israeli technology company, is set to revolutionize the mobile phone market just as Apple did in 2007. They have announced that their first mobile device, the First Else, will be available in . The company claims "the death of main menu" is coming and the First Else's user interface will completely change how user's interact with their smartphones.

Emblaze's First Else smartphone will run on the Access Linux Platform and, from device demos put on by the company, introduce sPlay. "sPlay" is the company's take on the menu. The menu is completely controlled by the user's right thumb and is navigated through using slides of the appendage, rather than taps. This allows the user to tap once, and slide through numerous submenus to their destination. This is explained much better by the video below.

So what do you think? Does this First Else's redesigned interface make the iPhone and Droid look outdated? Let us know in the comments below!
