Holtsville Ecology Center

Long Island Frugal Living Examiner
Finding free things to do on Long Island with children can be difficult at times. The
Holtsville Ecology Center is a fantastic find for parents who want to have a great day with their kids, but only spend money on gas to get there!
The
Holtsville Ecology Center is located at 249 Buckley Road, Holtsville, Long Island. The Brookhaven Town Highway Department is responsible for running the facility and have provided this center at NO COST to visitors. Kids can visit the zoo, where animals that have been rescued, live and play. Though the park is open until 4 P.M., some of the animals are brought inside around 2:30 P.M.
After the zoo, parents can take their kids over to the greenhouse, where the bathrooms are located as well as very pretty flowers and butterflies. Of course, a visit would not be complete without checking out the playground, swings and of course the trails are great for walking and getting some exercise for mom's and dad's! Finally kids can run around on the grassy field while parents can watch from the picnic area. Bring lunch and enjoy the great sounds coming from the zoo!
For more info: Check out
Brookhaven Town , or call the center at 631.758.9664.
