Rainbow Flag
agenda (noun) - an underlying often ideological plan or program (a political agenda)
In one of the most blatant evidences of the political agenda of the Colorado gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered (GLBT) community and their allies, a new marketing campaign has been launched that is obviously aimed at children.
A group of cartoon "super heroes" known as the "Rights 5," have been created to promote "life, liberty and equality" - an interesting phrase meant to invoke images of Superman and the Declaration of Independence - as they promote awareness of Colorado laws protecting civil rights and equality for homosexuals.
Or so they say.
Cartoons have been used in the past by corporations and other groups for the express purpose of marketing their products or ideas to children, with the intent of "programming" them to accept something before they are old enough to decide for themselves.
For instance, Camel cigarettes used to use a cartoon character known as "Joe Camel" or "Old Joe." While there were some criticisms about his appearance being a phallic representation of male virility, it wasn't until the American Medical Association published their concern that he appealed to children, along with subsequent lawsuits from state Attorneys General, that R.J. Reynolds dropped him from their advertising.
In the United Kingdom, efforts are underway to ban the use of cartoons in food marketing after the Department of Health determined that such advertising was contributing to the consumption of junk foods, along with playing a role in childhood diabetes and obesity.
Outside the advertising world, cartoons have been banned for:
- Stereotyping minorities - A group of cartoons referred to as the "Censored Eleven" were never released for syndication due to references to African-Americans.
- Glamorizing cigarettes - Cartoons from Bugs Bunny to Tom and Jerry have either been edited or banned for characters who smoked.
- Satiring WWII enemies - Disney, Warner Bros. and others referred to the enemies fought during the war using words that are politically incorrect today.
- References to drugs, sex and extreme violence - even cartoons that haven't been completely banned for content such as this have been edited to the point of destroying them.
The one constant in each of these cases is that cartoons are viewed overwhelmingly by children, and as such, can be detrimental to them due to inappropriate content or influence.
The use of superheroes has been used in dealing with childhood psychological issues. In the book, "Using Superheroes in Counseling and Play Therapy," Lawrence C. Rubin, RPT-S PhD LMHC, shows how it is possible to uncover children's secret identities, assist with the treatment of adolescents with sexual behavior problems, and inspire the journey of individuation for gay and lesbian clients, all by paying attention to our intrinsic social need for superhero fantasy and play (emphasis mine).
As was reported by the Denver Post, Heather Draper, a spokeswoman for the GLBT Community Center of Colorado, this marketing campaign is designed to educate everyone, but she soft-sells the launch of the cartoon by saying it's only going to be used for "awareness" in the beginning.
Based on the long history of the influence of cartoons and cartoon characters on the developing minds of small children, along with the expert opinions of psychologists in the field, there can be no doubt as to the intentions of this latest campaign from the GLBT Community Center.
The homosexual agenda is being marketed to children.

DEAR DAVID:
Would you really like to know how the Gay community has made so much progress over the past 50 years? It's not because of laws, or court decisions, or the marketing of some insidious "homosexual agenda."
It's simply because more and more people KNOW people who are Gay. Now if Gay people were as monstrous as you apparently think they are, "coming out" would be damaging to public relations. But that's not the case. More and more Gay individuals, and especially couples, are demonstrating through example that we are good friends, family members, and co-workers ... and that we are just as capable of conducting our lives with decency and humility as anyone else.
This is not to say that all Gay people are necessarily saints, but neither are all Straight people.
30 years ago most Americans were not aware of any Gay friends, family members, or co-workers. Today most Americans ARE aware, and with that awareness has come increasing acceptance and support. Deal with it.
The homosexual agenda [dunh duh duh]...equal rights! Oh noes!!!
Who does David Leach think he's fooling? He is obviously gay, just LOOK at him!
Hey, David, stop hating on your own people, it just makes you look like a moron.
David,
Do yourself a favor and save yourself from embarrassment. Educate yourself before you write something so...so...stupid for lack of better terms...you're showing your ignorance.
They're doing the same thing with that big death cult that everyone's talking about, too! That jack chick makes some messed up wacky stuff. No death cult cartoons! Ban the death cult!
Oh, Dave. Can I call you Dave? Thanks.
Some people are gay. Some people are not gay. Some people are kind of in between, but we'll not get into that just now, mmkay? Some kids will grow up and they'll be gay. Some kids will grow up and they will not, in fact, be gay. Some people will grow up to be like Katy Perry and make money off of gay. But that's okay, we all need to make a living.
Whether they're exposed to the gay 'political agenda' or not, no amount of gayness is going to turn any kid gay. Ever. They were either gay to start with or they were not.
Of course children of today should be brought up to 'accept homosexuality'. Just like children should be brought up to accept that some people have different coloured skin to their own. It's not something that people have a choice in - it's a fact of life and it's not going to go away.
Children are the future, Dave. They're the future Presidents, First Ladies..
your future bank manager, your future waitress at the Italian you love down the street; some of them will be Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim. Whomever the children of today grow up to be, they should be brought into this world and taught to respect others, because no one has the right to try to deny another their life, whether they disagree with it or not. Discrimination has no place - not in America, not in Scotland, which is where I'm writing to you from, not anywhere....
Life is hard enough without some poor kid in Frisco, Edinburgh, wherever, growing up being made to believe by people like you that there is something wrong with them. How are we all meant to move forward, become better people and try to make this world a better place to live in if there are people like you standing in the way?

I respect that you have your own opinions and you are by all means entitled to them, but this is a matter of human decency. Is it because the bible tells you that homosexuality is wrong? Not everyone looks to the bible to tell them how to live their lives. You shouldn't need a book to tell you what's right and what's wrong.
Anyway, for now and always, I've got my fingers crossed that none of the Future Children of the World are going to turn out anything like you.
How very interesting that you are afraid that someone will "program" a child to accept something before they are old enough to decide for themselves. Obviously, you wish to retain that privilege for yourself. How about a compromise??? No children shall be allowed to learn anything about Homosexuality OR Religion until they "old enough to decide for themselves."
On the other hand, if they just keep an eye on a few 'chosen' conservative clergymen, they will be able to learn first hand about religion AND homosexuality.
I'm WITH YOU Guizess!!!!! These type of people somehow believe it's ok to BRAINWASH children with the Bible and threats of hell, but GAWD FORBID you encourage a child to understand that it's OK if they are 'different' than their friends. Children understand very early on when they are 'different', giving them the safety to accept their differnce means they have a fighting chance of growing up without continually doubting their worth and hence, they might actually grow up CONFIDENT!!! GASP!!!!!
Gawd forbid we allow anyone DIFFERENT than ourselves to have more confidence in themselves than those of us who are "normal" do...for obviously if homosexuality disturbs you this much, you must be hiding your true self from public notice and are jealous t others who don't hide in fear at being 'different'.
Grow up-I hope the day comes when children will begin to understand it's ok to disagree with their parents...won't that be welcome progress from the closed minds we have now!!!
