Neighborhood farmers markets already have a certain charm to them but when you put one in the heart of Sugar House, the surrounding community comes out to support it at record levels—from a vendor and buyer perspective.
Part of the mission of the Sugar House Farmers Market includes working to attract small urban farms, small entrepreneurs in the area of homemade crafts, and new food businesses—all supporting local food and businesses.
The Sugar House Farmers Market takes place each Friday evening (3 pm to dusk) on Monument Plaza. The side street on the south side of 2100 South at 1100 East is closed off to make room for 24 vendors. Vendors include local farmers, craftspersons and prepared food vendors. It’s a great place to wander, eat, shop and enjoy the Sugar House area.
One nice feature of the Sugar House Farmers Market is their commitment to being an environmentally friendly, zero waste market. The Sugar House Farmers Market is encouraging reducing, reusing and recycling throughout the event. Vendors are not allowed to use non recyclable materials such as Styrofoam or plastic bags for public use and encourage the use of biodegradable plates, utensils and cups as well as reusable bags.
