On January 27th at noon protesters gathered outside of the El Paso County Courthouse in support of Bob Crouse, a cancer patient who is being prosecuted for using medical marijuana to treat his cancer symptoms. The cold weather and threat of snow did not deter dozens who came out to support Crouse, a well known figure among local MMJ supporters and organizations such as CSMSS, C4CPR, and IamBillSmith.com. The cancer fighting properties of the distilled marijuana oil known as “Phoenix Tears” have been shown to cause a reduction in Crouse’s cancer with medical testing over the course of his illness. Crouse and his friends often use the phrase “Google Apoptosis” to spread the news about his alternative course of treatment which is touted to have significantly less side effects than chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer.
Crouse’s motions hearing was about inadmissibility of evidence procured from the search of his home when it was raided by police. The judge postponed ruling on Crouse's consent after 6 armed policemen stormed his house and were already searching his property was given under extreme duress. A few further motions were rescheduled for the next week. The next planned protest for Crouse will be February 27th at noon in the same place. Video of the event can be seen in the sidebar.
(UPDATE, February 2nd: All 5 motions from Crouse's defense team to supress evidence were denied, but the motion concerning the prosecution's destruction of evidence as it concerns the alleged marijuana and amounts most likely will lead to further motions. The evidence room storage of the plants in burlap sacks has dried out the evidence to the point that it is brittle vegetable matter which may not be testable as mariuana or attributable to individual plants as the allegedly 55 plants were crammed into the same 4 burlap sacks.)
