Rare coin collectors: If you're going out of town and need a safe place to keep $40,000 in coins, try a safety deposit box. Do not leave your collection at the foot of a shrine to the Virgin Mary.
A Catholic university in Emmitsburg, Maryland got a bit of a let-down when the enormous amount of rare coins found at the Blessed Mother's feet were not for them, but for... her. The owner came back for the stash on November 16th (a week later), explaining that she had entrusted Mary with the coins because she would be out of town. And, you know, an apartment is not safe for such a collection. But an open shrine of concrete shaped like a woman from the 1st century is ideal.
To the collector's credit, followers of Jesus are ensured quite a helping of protections from the real world: In Mark 16, Jesus guarantees that they can handle poisonous snakes without being hurt; In Mark 11 he says his followers can tell mountains to move and they will (very handy for LA driving). So it really shouldn't be much of a surprise that a follower might think that a shrine could protect her belongings... But if she's reading... I'd be happy to hold onto that for you.
