Miners, Mormons, farmers and ranchers settled in the Four Corners in the late 19th century. Arriving in wagons, they first built small of cabins of logs and tin but quickly the most successful moved to comfortable, ornate Victorian-styled homes...
Margie Ranc has had a long career in promoting travel destinations in the western U.S. and now writes about one of her favorite places - The Four Corners, where Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah meet. This remarkable and isolated area is where the snow-topped San Juan Mountains meet the high desert of the Navajo nation, where more than a thousand years ago ancient Puebloans built impressive cities and where the iconic Ship Rock presides over river basins, red bluffs and stunning sunsets. Having once lived in the Four Corners, she now travels there frequently, meeting old friends and exploring favorite places and local hideaways in one of America's most mysterious and starkly beautiful regions.
