One the America's greatest foreign policy assets is its pop culture. It has been followed and emulated around the world despite the oftentimes loathing of our leadership. A recent case in point was a sketch on the 'Daily Show with Jon Stewart' which featured Jason Jones in Iran. People there love our music, our movies, our fashion and have much more in common with us than we'd be willing to admit.
The Philippines has been one of America's closest allies in southeast Asia. It therefore seemed appropriate that the death of one of our leading pop culture icons, Michael Jackson, would be memorialized in the Philippines in a most unusual way. The setting was a prison in the Central Filipino city of Cebu.
