India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is currently enjoyed being welcomed to the White House with a special state dinner, and finds himself surrounded by a literal who's who in Washington and Hollywood. He was greeted by President Obama who made references to India's Diwali holidays and the special friendship between the two countries. When Singh took over the podium, he commended the President for his special vision and revolutionary thinking for today's times, when the world has changed so much. He also made a positive mention of his winning the Nobel Peace Prize. If there was any hurt feelings on the part of Indian officials regarding Obama's visit to China rather than India, it was not apparent this evening.
Michelle Obama glowed in a designer dress, appropriately put together by India-born designer Naeem Khan. The evening news shows all spoke about the state dinner, and CNN's Larry King spent quite a bit of time discussing the dress and its designer. Mr. Khan mentioned that the entire outfit was completely handmade by 40 people who worked for three weeks at Mr. Khan's family workshop in India.
The table settings were superb, as shown in the slide show. Just watch....
