This holiday season can be hard for families or individuals who have lost their home and cannot find housing to take its place. Many individuals have to go to homeless shelters. That can be staggering in general but it would hurt worse during the holiday season.

Your local Salvation Army is a central hub that you can contact to offer what you reasonably can to the consistent accumulation of people trying to find a new place of residence.

Below is a checklist of little things Americans can do to help. Pick one maybe. If a large amount of people pitch in, it can add to so much more.

1. Give each person in your local shelter a Christmas card with a dollar in it.
2. Clean out unwanted items in your home for the thrift store.
3. If you own apartments that are available to rent: Put your vacant apartments on the HUD housing list. You will receive full rent from the government as payment.
4. If you are a dentist- give your local shelter free examinations and emergency work.
5. Offer to pet sit a suitable pet until the family or individual finds a residence.

Happy Holidays!
