Grecian Cafe just opened in New Port Richey

Chicken noodle soup

We were going to Geo's the other day for lunch and pulled into the parking lot. It was now The Grecian Cafe.

As we walked up to the door, we started chatting to customers that had previously eaten in our old restaurant.

The inside of the restaurant was freshly painted and there were new barstools. It looked brighter and cleaner than our last visit. We found a table near the front, as the restaurant was almost empty.

Our server came over, and I asked how long the restaurant had been open, under the new name. She told us just 6 weeks. Steve is the owner, and we did get to see him, but it looked as if he was doing deliveries, as well as going from table to table.

Neither hubby or I were sure of what to eat, so we asked the server. She suggested the cup of soup and Gyro platter special for $4.50. I haven't had a Gyro in ages so went with her recommendation. Hubby stuck to his biscuits and gravy.

While we were waiting to eat, both our server and Steve came over with a small plate with cookies and pastries on it. These are taken to every table and will be an oncoming extra for customers.

My soup was chicken noodle, and it isn't always my favorite, as sometimes it is bland. This chicken noodle was the best I have had in a restaurant for a long time. You just may want to find out what day they are serving the Chicken Noodle and go that day.  I let the secret out of the bag.  Hubby's biscuits and gravy were just alright, nothing special. When my Gyro came it looked really nice and had French fries with it. I had eaten my soup, tried hubby's biscuits and gravy and had a couple of pastries. I ate a little of my dinner, but found the Gyro meat to be on the dry side. I ended up having it boxed and bringing it home.

When I reheated it I was careful not to dry it out anymore, but I was very disappointed with it.

The Grecian Cafe has lots of specials for breakfast and lunch. They were running breakfast starting at $1.25 when I was there. I am not sure whether it is still on. They also had coupons for $1 off omelets and buy any lunch and get one half off.
