Kramarczuk's knows their kielbasa. They've been making it the since the late 1940's using their recipe from "the old country." On Friday, September 10 from 5 p.m. till 10 p.m. and Saturday, September 11th, from 11 a.m. till 10 p.m., Kamarczuk's will be holding their first ever kielbasa festival. There will be entertainment, contests and of course street food. And the street food will be sausages.

The menu includes venison/elk and cranberry/blueberry bratwurst, cheddarwurst (special for the U of MN), Moroccan lamb on pita bread, andouille sausage, Chicago hot dogs and of course their famous kielbasa. Potato salads are served on the side and an array of desserts such as apple strudel and plum pierogi are also featured.

Wasyl Kramarzcuk and his wife Anna founded Kramarczuk's in the late forties. Together they were skilled in sausage making, baking and cooking from their homeland in the Ukraine. Today, every sausage, every loaf of bread and every piroshky continues to be made by hand from scratch.

Visiting Kramarczuk's is like taking a step back in time to mid 20th-century, Eastern Europe. In addition to their restaurant, Kramaczuk's boasts a meat counter, a bakery, a deli and treats from all over the world. Visit and see for yourself why Kramarczuk's is a landmark. The slideshow offers a tour of the restaurant/deli.

If you go to the Kielbasa Festival, tickets are $10 for adults (includes commemorative beer stein and your first beer is free), $5 for under 21/designated drivers and free for children under five. For more information, please visit Kramarczuk's website.
