New York System Hot Weiners
Another Hoax? A hot dog over 100 years old? Sounds pretty nasty. Feltmans Restaurant on Coney Island was set to be demolished, when "archaeologists" said they found an ancient hot dog encased in ice under the building. They also said they "found" an original receipt in the block of ice.
Well, it seems that this story was a big hoax, and local TV news stations like abc6.com and news giant CNN.com have fallen for the joke, or so it seems. The CNN video has been removed, but the YouTube video it was taken from still remains intact.
Watch the video below and see what you think. In the meantime, this article was already written, so you may as well enjoy the recipes listed and make your own Coney Island Dogs or Hot Weiners.
Feltmans Restaurant and Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs
It is said that Charles Feltman is considered the true inventor of the hot dog. And although the original 1916 Nathan's restaurant stands at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in the Coney Island neighborhood of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, it was Feltmans Restaurant that the fossilized hot dog was found under.
How to Make Coney Islands (Hot Dogs)
Coney Sauce made with ground beef, onions, garlic, tomato sauce and spices. The Coney Island Dogs are paced in heated buns, smeared with mustard and smothered with chopped onions. Click on the link above for the original Coney Island Dog Recipe.
New York System Hot Weiners
Rhode Islanders' love their New York System Hot Weiners. Hot Weiners are close cousins to Coney Island Hot Dogs. However, New York System hot weiners are more Rhode Island than New York. Just like Dunkin' Donuts, weiner joints are found all over Rhode Island. Some still go under the name of New York System. Other well known weiner restaurants are Olneyville New York System, Wein-O-Rama and Rod's Grill among many others.

Thanks for pointing this out. I never believed it anyway. It sounded like something from The Onion.
M M M M M M M GOOD
LOL - having dug up many things that are 140 years old (was an archaeologist for many years), I can tell you the thing was faked. *If* it preserved (and note there's no permafrost in NYC, so no block of ice), it would be black and shriveled and no one would display it on a sidewalk. Fun story, sad that no one questioned it. Didn't Examiner send it out as Fact for Local Editors to capitalize on?
CNN was punked. Priceless!
That is so funny! But it does not put a damper on my eagerness to visit coney island again this summer!
Very funny
I can't believe a real news agency would fall for that.
This story again?
This story is growing older that the mythical hot dog. Surely you could write another story. This was published more than 2 months ago. Even the CNN video has expired.
Go ahead. Delete this comment Donna. I will just repost once this story is recycled again.
