Fresh Bing Cherries
It's summer, and the fresh bing cherries have never tasted better! Buy a pound or two and use them in these awesome desserts, or add them to cereal or a Red, White & Blue Fruit Salad!
Fresh cherries need to be pitted before using them in recipes. There's a few ways to pit cherries. One is to buy a fancy schmancy Oxo cherry pitter from Bed, Bath & Beyond for about $12.99. Or, how about this crazy looking cherry pitter that has a mouth that chomps down on the cherry to pit it? The other way to pit cherries is to do them by hand. It's not hard to do. Just grab a paring knife, slit the cherry in half, and dig out the pit with your fingers.

My favorite fruit coupled with my favorite chocolate - irresistible!!!
Love cherries! Excellent list, thanks!
Donna,
Your photos are stunning, and recipes look mouth-watering. The problem I always have with cherries is that I wind up eating them, instead of having the patience to turn them into a recipe. Yum.
For the desserts, I've got two beer pairings. For everything BUT the Rhubarb and the Peach/Cherry cobbler, try: Young's Chocolate Stout, or Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout.
The Rhubarb dessert and the Peach/Cherry Cobbler need something lighter, a little tarter, more cidery. Try on a lambic like Castle Brewing Co.'s St. Louis Framboise Lambic, or Kriek (sour cherry) because they're juicier than Lindeman's cordial-like offerings.
