Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding Recipe

  • 4 day old croissants (about 2 ounces each)
  • 2/3 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 6 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup half-and-half
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into tiny pieces

How To Make Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Arrange four creme brulee dishes or 6-ounce ramekins on a baking sheet.
  • Tear the croissants into 1-inch pieces and arrange half of the pieces in the dishes or ramekins. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Top with the remaining croissant pieces.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk the whole egg, egg yolk, sugar, and half-and-half and pour over the croissants. Dot each pudding with the butter. Put the baking sheet in the oven and bake the puddings until set, about 15 minutes. Serve warm or let stand for n hour and serve at room temperature.
  • Serves 4

    I haven't had bread pudding much in my lifetime, but WHEN I do, croissants look like the way to go, and chocolate, well, that's just it!
