One bowl brownie recipe delivers chocolate flavor with ease

New Orleans isn’t exactly known for its brownies, but even so…everybody loves them and nothing says chocolate any better than brownies. Untold numbers of brownie mixes are sold each year, delivering brownies of varying qualities to their bakers.

Made from scratch brownies possess a depth of flavor that no brownie mix has ever been able to duplicate. Even so, most recipes are intimidating with their complicated steps and multiple bowls before the chocolatey mixture is finally spread into a pan. Its unavoidable for home bakers to scratch their head in confusion…brownies are supposed to be a SIMPLE recipe making an extremely chocolate flavored fudgy textured bar, not a complicated recipe that delivers anything else!

This recipe takes brownies back to the basics with a simple one-bowl recipe. Using real chocolate delivers real chocolate flavor and a fudgy texture that will have everyone begging for more, perfect for serving alongside a cup of New Orleans style café au lait or a glass of ice cold milk.

One Bowl Brownies

Ingredients:

  • 4 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
  • ¾ c. butter (or margarine)
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Heat oven to 350°F.
Line 13x9” pan with foil, bringing ends over edge of pan to form handles to remove brownies from pan after baking and spray foil with non-stick spray.
Melt chocolate & butter in heavy 3 quart saucepan over low heat, stirring continually. Remove from heat. Stir sugar into chocolate until well blended. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and nuts, and stir until well mixed. Spread in pan. Bake 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs. DO NOT OVERBAKE!!
Remove from pan, using foil for handles to lift from 9x13” pan. Cool on rack. Cut into 24 squares.
