A while back, the Arizona Republic published a calendar identifying produce that was available by month in Arizona. While this does not mean that you can't buy items outside the dates shown, it does help you with menu planning in order to get the best, most affordable produce available.

To help you with your planning, remember to consider 'the toxic twelve', or produce which absorbs the most pesticides and poisons. Buying them in season makes them more affordable. Also, consider 'the terrific twelve' which are fine to buy non-organically.
