The first-annual River City Brewers Festival will be held in Handy Park on Beale Street this Saturday, March 13th. There are two sessions: 12 - 4 PM and 6 - 10 PM. Sample over 75 craft beers including:
Ghost River Brewing, Memphis, TN
Bosco's, Tennessee and Arkansas
Schlafly, St. Louis, MO
Samuel Adams, Boston, MA
McSorley's, New York, NY
Yazoo, Nashville, TN
Olde Town Beer, Huntsville, AL
Newcastle, England
Organized by Jim Lopasio, a self-described "beer nut" and director of management for River City Management Group, this festival marks an increasing demand by Memphians for more sophisticated brews. Unlike past beer festivals in Memphis (that are unfortunately few and far between), there will be brewery representatives handing out samples rather than distributor reps. Beer aficionados can learn about what they're sampling along the way.
Admission is $30 per person. Click here to order tickets online. They will distribute tickets and lanyards at the front gate, so make sure you have your photo ID. The Official After Party is at Rum Boogie Cafe; admission is free with your event lanyard. Also, for those attending the early session, the Beale Street St. Patrick's Day Parade will begin right as you're finishing up your last sample at 4PM!
For those that cannot attend River City Brewers Festival, there is another beer festival launching this year on Saturday, April 24 called Memphis Brewfest. Click here for additional information and tickets.
