Do you have a craving for some rich and delicious Italian food?  Sometimes there is nothing more comforting than a great big plate of pasta added with your favorite flavorful tomato sauce and juicy meat. Also, it can be a fun and entertaining time taking your family or friends out for some pizza on a Friday or Saturday night. Italian food has been a part of the American menu for years and it just continues to get better with the creation of both new and classic dishes.

Champaign, Illinois is home to some tempting Italian restaurants with appetizing dishes just waiting to be served to you. It is also home to the "Fighting Illini" basketball team where orange rules during basketball season. If you happen to be in town after a big basketball team, or are just driving through on a visit, there are plenty of Italian favorites for you to dine on as you relax  over dinner and discuss some sports talk, or anything else that comes up during dinner conversation.

For a fun and family oriented environment, stop in at Minneci's Ristorante. Each day has a different special, just waiting for you to try. Some of the specials include meat lasagna, toasted ravioli and meat tortellini. If it's pizza that you are craving, create your own from the many selections of toppings that Minneci's has to offer. Some of those pizza toppings include black and green olives, greens pepper & mushrooms, onions, artichokes, eggplant, zucchini, spinach, pepperoni, sausage and shrimp. Guests may choose up to six toppings for their pizza creation. Other menu items include sandwiches such as Italian beef, meatball and pizza. For pasta lovers, engage your taste buds in comforting dishes such as Spaghetti Primavera, Contadina and Manicotti with Alfredo Sauce. If these dishes aren't enough, a full bar with imported wines are available to accompany your dinner. Minneci's is located at 401 S 1st Street in Champaign.

Za's Italian Café believes that they have prices that will fit your budget at their restaurant. Some of the reasons that they give customers to dine in at their café are "choices," a children's menu, four unique different brewed teas and flavorful fruit smoothies. All of their food is homemade and fresh and also healthy. More than 12 different homemade sauces await your order at the café. Pasta selections at Za's include creamy spirals and cheese, Scampi Diavolo, and cowboy spaghetti. For something simple like Panini's, customers can try their favorite sandwich flavors such as Philly steak, Mario's meatball and Chicken Carbonara. A variety of pizza selections await your sampling as well. Za's enforces healthy eating and will customize your meals to meet personal requirements too. Za's is located in two different spots in Champaign. One café can be found at 1905 North Neil Street, and the other is housed at 2006 West Springfield.

So while you are in Champaign, try visiting some of the mentioned hot spots for Italian food. Conquer your Italian cravings, and order rich saucy pasta dish, or create your own mixed up vegetable and meat pizza creation. With Italian, you definitely won't go home hungry, and there will always be plenty of bread for you to snack on.

Minneci's is the best! Talk to your waiter/waitress about the food as sometimes they can make something special depending on the day! Peasant sandwich, not on the menu and not always available but it is AWESOME! Thanks Ariana for the review!
