Mercato del Mare, located on Salem Street in the North End, provides the neighborhood with fresh local fish. Shellfish from Cape Cod, trout, sushi grade tuna, Chilean sea bass, and plenty of other seafood selections are all on display as you walk by the window of their store.
Elizabeth Ventura and Keri Cassidy, the friendly owners, even offer up premade meals to grab and go on your way home if you don’t have time to cook up anything. Delicious entrees like lobster ravioli, crab cakes, and clam chowder are just a few of the classic options provided daily for your convenience. They also have a selection of marinades and sauces to compliment the fish and if you are hosting a dinner party, this is the place to stop by and get shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon, caviar, or whatever you need!
The two owners are celebrating their one year anniversary in business this week. They are always happy to provide you with answers to any questions you have about how to cook and prepare your fish. You can sign up for their daily catcth newsletter to find out what has been brought in Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, which is perfect to help to plan your menu for the week! Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., oyster and clam shucking lessons are available as well.
This market could not be any more convenient, at a time when Boston residents are dining in more. It is definitely a plus to know right in the neighborhood, is a healthy dinner waiting to be prepared, that you won’t need to “shell out” a ton of money to prepare.
