Wine of the week: Barefoot Pinot Grigio

Barefoot Pinot Grigio

If you're looking for a cheap wine that never disappoints, this is it. Time and time again I've purchased Barefoot's pinot grigio, and it's always a crowd pleaser. I've seen it used as the white wine option at social functions and it's also a great selection when having a large gathering at your house.

Excellent for warm weather days, this is a rather fruity pinot grigio – vibrant green apple and pear notes are especially noticeable. It finishes with a tangy sweetness and a bit of honeysuckle. There's really nothing to complain about. All too often, I've found that cheap pinot grigio tends to taste flat and watery, but Barefoot is far from it.

Having tried other Barefoot wines which are just as reasonably priced, I consider this varietal the clear victor. Right now you can pick up a bottle on special at your local Harrisburg-area state store for a rock-bottom $5.99.
