Fly Fishing legend Jack Dennis retires from retail

October 26, 2009 - American’s favorite fly fisherman is calling the quits on his 42 year long career in retail, but he’s not quitting fly fishing. In fact we’re all going to benefit more from Jack’s retirement.
A man who has fished with everyone from Chuck Yeager to Dick Cheney plans on focusing more time on producing high quality fly fishing films incorporating Blu-Ray and High Def technology, guiding more, and utilizing his newly built home video studio.
By January we should start seeing his new DVD’s hitting shelves in Cabelas and he plans on appearing at different Cabela locations across the country to help promote the new DVD’s.
“There are a lot of factors that went into this decision,” Dennis said. “But the stress of all of this business has taken its toll.”
This summer Jack was diagnosed with hypertension and his doctors advised him a reduction in stress was necessary. Also throughout the years outside partners have joined in on his store.
“Retail just isn’t as fun as it used to be.”
“Every time you add partners to a group, everyone is going to have an opinion of how it’s going to go,” Dennis said. “There were a multitude of situations that don’t need to be discussed. But I have no plans to leave the valley. If anything, I’m going to get more involved than ever before.”
Jack, I’m sorry to hear of your retirement, but not that sorry. It sounds like we all come out as winners with this new venture – can’t wait to see the new DVD’s!
