Upcoming events for the Al Hazzard chapter of Trout Unlimited

Binghamton’s Al Hazzard chapter of Trout Unlimited has some great upcoming events in store for fly anglers of the Southern Tier. The monthly chapter meetings always feature a guest speaker with local fly fishing knowledge and experience. And chapter events can offer a great way to get involved in improving our local fisheries.

Here’s a preview of the upcoming list of speakers for the chapter’s monthly meetings:

·         Tuesday, February 15th - Dave Bollinger, Building a Bamboo Fly Rod (click here for details on Dave's presentation)

·         Wednesday, March 16th - Ken Tutalo, Secrets of the East Branch of the Delaware River

·         Tuesday, April 19th - Katy Dunlap, Protecting New York's Water Resources in the Marcellus Shale Region

·         Tuesday, May 17th - George Douglas, Fish Like a Guide

The hallmark event of the year for the chapter, the Al Hazzard TU 39th Annual Banquet is set for March 26th.  As always, the banquet promises to be a terrific way to welcome in the new year of fishing with a fun-filled and informative agenda.

The event starts off with a cash bar at 4:30 pm.This is a good time to socialize, catch up with old fishing friends or meet new ones, and check out the numerous auction tables. Every attendee has the chance to win terrific door prizes included in the price of admission.  Raffle tickets are sold for silent and live auctions that take place after dinner. Dinner is buffet-style and locally catered. After dinner, there’s normally time set aside for a guest speaker or an update on the chapter and future events.

Kids 15 and younger will not go home empty-handed. The event never leaves kids behind and it’s rare to see one leave without an ear-to-ear grin. Not only can they bid for the auction, but every kid gets a nice prize to take home.

Ticket sales will continue through March 20th. The cost is $25 for adults and $20 for children 15 and younger. Contact Gene @ 607-754-5439 for more information, or show up to the next TU chapter meeting. Tickets will be available for purchase there.
