Turtle Walks on Florida beaches - See nesting/returning sea turtles in July - amazing

Have you ever wanted to meet some of Florida’s magnificent sea turtles? Then take a tour on a Florida beach with the experts. Now is the best time of the year to go turtle walking. At Sebastian Inlet State Park, visitors are allowed to observe the nesting process of loggerhead sea turtles.

Sea Turtle Walks – Learn about Florida’s giant sea turtles and maybe see a nesting Loggerhead sea turtle on a park ranger led tour (9 p.m.-1 a.m.). Call 772-388-2750 for reservations and information; July 11 & 12 – 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

For more information on any of the scheduled events or interpretive programs please call 321-984-4852.

At the Loggerhead Marine Life Center in Juno Beach, visitors are shown a slide presentation and then the adventure begins. Visitors can make a difference and “adopt a turtle” by donating money to help an ailing patient of the “Sea Turtle Hospital.”

During the summer, kids can enjoy “Totally Turtles” and other fun summer camp programs. Get up close and personal with a sea turtle at the Mote Aquarium in Sarasota. Learn about each turtle’s history and what you can do to help.

Other turtle walks are held at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Melbourne Beach, Hutchinson Island, Hobe Sound, and John U. Lloyd State Recreation area.  For more information on these walks, click here.
