By all accounts, whether bullynetting at night or diving in15 feet of water, the legal-sized lobster were plentiful for those who put in the time and effort to entice them Wednesday, July 28. The two-day mini-season concludes at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, July 29.
Party promoter T.J. Hayes of Islamorada thinks that's reason enough to celebrate and is hosting, along with HillBilly brand, a Lobster Fest Saturday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m. at the Holiday Isle Beach Resort and Marina Tiki Bar, mile marker 84 oceanside in Islamorada. A biggest lobster contest, HillBilly Hottie contest and live country music are part of the fest. At 9 p.m. Jason Thomas performs followed by headliner Amber Leigh. The party is slated to go until 4 a.m.
