After a midseason finale full of important revelations and surprises, FlashForward is taking a little break.  FlashForward is going on hiatus until March 4, 2010, when it will return to its Thursday 8/7c timeslot.

The reason for the break is multi-faceted.  According to show execs, the show was intended to take a midseason break from the beginning.  Odds are, however, that the show's writers are taking a much-needed break to reorient themselves and reset the pace of the show, which became increasingly sluggish over the first 8 episodes and only managed to grab the reins again in the last two episodes before the break.

Part of the reason for FlashForward's hiatus may be linked to the change of headship for the show that took place midseason.  A few weeks ago it was announced that co-producer Marc Guggenheim was handing over the helm of the show exclusively to his partner, David Goyer.  With Goyer now taking the lead on the show, a hiatus may have been necessary for the team to all move back onto the same page for the show.

No matter what the reason for the hiatus, anyone should agree that a little more time at the drawing board would be good for any show, so the fact that FlashForward is getting its chance at a bit more ideation should be a good idea.

What do you think?  Is the FlashForward hiatus a good thing or merely an annoyance?  Weigh in by posting a comment below!

Major Annoyance. A month would be alright but 4 seems a bit pointless. I will have lost interest by then.

Major annoyance! That's an awfully long time to wait for new episodes :(

ABC seems to do this to shows alot. A few years back, Invasion, ongoing with Lost, this summer with Defying Gravity, and now FlashForward and 'V'

I, for 1, lose alot of interest in shows that go off for 4-8 months at a time. It is almost worse than shows cancelled after a Season Finale happens!!!!!
