News of the Yahoo Cycling team became official this week
Cycling has been a hot-spot sport in Silicon Valley for the past several years.
Note the selection of San Jose as a location for the Livestrong Challenge, the strong showing among politicians and hi-tech execs for biking programs and bike to work days, and the incredibly well-run Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition.
On December 18, CyclingNews.com broke the story that Yahoo!'s cycling team is finally underway and will be headed by former pro Kevin Klein.
The idea that Yahoo! was going to start a team is no secret. It's been floating around cycling circles for a few months, including a "watch here for more" Twitter page and a two month old promise of a press release. We'd much rather see the story come out in Cycling News than a press release any old days.
Klein told Cycling News,
The whole idea behind the Yahoo! Cycling Team is the recruitment of high tech professionals in the Silicon Valley and to provide a platform for partners to achieve more involvement at the community level."
Congrats to the as-yet-announced team members. We're looking forward to hearing about your involvement in both the cycling and community-level activities.
