Tune in today to the Rachael Ray Show to learn about the 400 Calorie Fix, a new diet that one woman claims caused her to lose six pounds in just two days. Prevention Magazine's editor-in-chief has penned what promises to be a popular book that shows readers how to eat four 400-calories meals a day.
Not having read the book, as a fitness professional, I am of course skeptical of any diet that professes to be so simple. A 1600 calorie diet can work for a lot of people, and it is actually sustainable, but this is not something that is one-size-fits-all.
The book apparently teaches the reader what a 400-calorie meal looks like, how to analyze a menu, and how to eat a variety of foods while limiting calorie intake. These are all excellent lessons, even if 1600 calories a day doesn't work for you, so it's definitely worth a read.
As with any diet, weight loss is best achieved with a combination of limiting calorie intake and physical activity. I suggest you read the book while you're sweating away at the gym on the treadmill!
