Get your metabolism revving again with these five quick ways to speed it up:
- Workout today – Get a resistance or cardiovascular workout in today, both will increase your metabolism immediately and keep it elevated. Interval training in your cardio workout will keep the heart rate elevated longer.
- Eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day – You’ve heard this before because it really works. Every time you eat, your metabolism gets a boost. Keep your total caloric intake for the day within a healthy range for you.
- Eat real food – Fake, overly processed foods do things to your body that scientists aren’t even aware of yet, and none of them are good. Stick to whole foods to keep your body running like the supreme machine it was meant to be.
- Eat breakfast – Get your motor running fast and early by starting the day with healthy food. Lean protein and clean, complex carbs will start the day off on the right foot.
- Water, water everywhere - Stick to water for your beverage of choice. While drinking more won’t necessarily increase your metabolism, drinking enough will keep you from getting dehydrated and decreasing your metabolism, among other things.
If you feel like you can't do this all at once, take one small step today to make a change. Do it everyday until you're comfortable with it, then add another change. Progress is progress at any speed.

I drink water all of the time to keep my metabolism going. I also swear by green tea, I drink at least 1 glass of green tea unsweetened every day. It also helps prevent cancer and has tons of antioxidants.
