With only two weeks of training, Dance Your Ass Off star Karla Guy finished the Phoenix Rock and Roll Half Marathon last Sunday in just over three hours. Although The LA based actress and comedienne was apprehensive prior to the race, Guy finished the event in less than her goal time and crossed the finish line with confidence. "It was the most satisfying moment when I reached the end!" she says. "I did it! I ran 13.1 miles and I felt so good! I wasn't in pain at all. I literally took each mile one mile at a time that is how I made it through. I didn't think about the 13.1"

It was Karla Guy's sister and sister's friend who encouraged her to enter the race, even though Guy was not a runner. They signed her up for the event and bought her a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS10 running shoes, which Guy credits for saving her feet during the race. It was a tip from a friend, however, that helped Guy manage her pace throughout the 13.1 miles.

"I only concentrated on each mile as they came. The mile marker had the time clock which I used to gauge my timing to know how many minutes it took for each mile. I ran the first 7 miles without stopping. I guess my two weeks of walk/run training uphill paid off. My sister's friend who also ran the 1/2 marathon with my sister gave me some very good advice. She said to run at a pace where I can still say the alphabet. That way I wouldn't over exert myself."

Karla hopes to participate in another half marathon soon. She has her eye on the San Diego Rock and Roll Half Marathon  in June.
