One woman claims she lost 6 lbs in two days on the 400 Calorie Fix diet plan, created by Prevention Magazine. She's telling her story to Rachael Ray and now you learn how she did it.
A fairly simple plan, the 400 Calorie Fix is simply a diet that is broken down into 4 meals, consisting of 400 calories. Sounds simple enough right? Download the iPhone App for just $1.99 and with the touch of your finger find out the best meals for 400 calories at some of your favorite restaurants.
Repackaging Success
Tried and true, the best way to lose weight is to count your calories (and write down each food for that matter). Since this is a difficult task for many to do on a regular basis or prolonged period of time, the 400 Calorie Fix is a simple idea for those who have trouble doing the math or just eat out a lot.
Prevention claims that the diet fuels energy, revs your metabolism and keeps you feeling full, but don't all diet's say that? It also tells you which meals on menus are "calorie bombs," items to stay far away from.
No food is off limits, just stay within your allowance.
The diet includes things like dessert and cocktails! Making this meal plan perhaps the first that actually allows you to drink maybe 4 glasses of wine for dinner? This is not recommended as alcohol inhibits your intuition and make you more likely to go back for another dessert or late night pizza.
Verdict
This is a good idea but really nothing new, just a concept that has been repackaged with a new number. Many other diet plans say have three 400 calorie meals with 2 snacks around 200 calories, which if you do the math comes out to 1600 calories.
The number one proven method for weight loss safely and effectively is counting calories and writing down what you eat. The 400 Calorie Fix includes this concept. For that alone, it's a good meal plan for people trying to lose weight to follow.
Prevention Magazine is also the author of the Flat Belly Diet which helps people choose the right foods to battle the belly bulge and educates on quality of calories rather than the philosophy that all calories are created equal. The best diet is the diet that works for you!
Lastly, 1600 calories is pretty much a generic number and should not be the number everyone follows. Be careful this number is not too low or too high for your current body weight. To find this out, multiply your weight by 10 and then add 0 - 300 calories depending on how active you are (0 being not active, 300 being very active). This number should be about the number of calories you can consume and still lose about a pound a week.

Ah, Sarah, I always love your articles and such... but in this one you suggest we multiply our weight by 100 and then eat that many calories! So I'm 110... multiplied by 100 that's 11,000! I'm guessing you meant times 10! :)
Thanks for all the good info again!
Ahh! You're right! Thanks for the catch. Oops :) I worked out too much today. Not enough oxygen to the brain I guess.
Good review. I saw her on the RR show and think the concept is interesting.
