In the article New England sends two athletes to the Olympics, Bode Miller had hinted at retirement. Alpine skier, Bode Miller, lives in New Hampshire. He's 32, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 192 pounds. (See my article about the show, The Superstars. Miller was on it.)
Not only is Bode not retiring but on Tuesday Bode make the Olympic team. This will be his fourth. This brings the total on the men's and women's ski teams to 22. In the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, Miller won two silver medals.
Samuel Bode Miller is sometimes called a rebel. Perhaps he is just unconventional. He grew up in Franconi, NH, a small town in the middle of New Hampshire's ski region. "His family, including older sister Kyla, younger sister Wren (short for Genesis Wren Bungo Windrushing Turtleheart) and younger brother Chelone (full name Nathaniel Kinsman Ever Chelone Skan), lived on 450 acres of land in a forest, where his parents celebrated the solstices, in a log cabin without electricity or indoor plumbing." He was homeschooled until his parents divorced when he was in the third grade. He got a scholarship to the Carrabassett Valley Academy, a ski racing academy in Maine. His mother's parents owned and started the Tamarack Tennis Camp, and he has played tennis and soccer since childhood(wikipedia)
