The agreement announced today reports that ESPN has sold the BASS LLC fishing organization to investors. The contract allows for the Bassmaster Elite Series and Bassmaster Classic to continue broadcasting on the ESPN network.
The investment group that purchased the largest membership organization of bass anglers in the country is led by Deloitte CEO, Jim Copeland and Don Logan, a retired Time Inc. Executive.
Former host of "The Fishin' Hole", Jerry McKinnis is also included in the investors that now own the Bass organization.
With more than half a million members, BASS will continue to operate as an ESPN entity until the transaction is finalized.
ESPN, owned by the Walt Disney Company, claimed ownership of the BASS organization in 2001 and reported earlier in the year it would be scaling back its outdoor programming line-up.
Financial details of the agreement have not been divulged.
