Delta water war update: Governor Schwarzenegger removes $11 billion water bond on California ballot

In an attempt to allow more time to encourage Californians to pass the water bond, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed two bills, Tuesday. One bill receiving the Governor's signature delays the water bond vote from the 2010 balllot until November 2012 and the other details the California Water Commission which required funds from the $11 billion in question.

The delay will permit proponents of the water bond another year to convince the voters the bond is necessary and good, as well as, allow for a hopeful recovery of California’s dire financial situation.

Apprehension has risen among bond advocates, that the economy will deter Californians support of the large expenditure.

Those opposing preferred the bond be put to vote and rejected.

With the signing of the bills, Swarzenegger can wash his hands from the state of the State's water woes.

The actor-turned politician retires from office in January 2012 and will leave the issue to the next California Governor.

The water wars continue, pitting the farmers and the fishermen, the environmentalists and the central/southern California water users and the politicians against one another.

Battles have been won on either side but there hasn't been and never may be an ultimate triumph in the California water crisis.
